Answers to common questions — cost, sign-in, offline play, daily reset, how the leaderboard ranks, and game mechanics.
Is QUADRO free?
Yes. QUADRO is forever free to play. There is no paid tier, no ads, and no in-game purchase.
Do I need an account?
Only to post a score. Practice, Learn to play, the Story lore, and reading the leaderboard all work signed out. You need to sign in only when you want your Daily result recorded on a leaderboard.
How often does the daily puzzle change?
Once a day, at midnight New York time. Every player in the world gets the same deal for that day, dealt from a shared seed, so the exact same attention nodes appear in the same order for everyone.
How many attempts do I get?
One recorded attempt per opponent per day. Because each of the six AI opponents has its own board, you can hold a place on several boards on the same day — but you cannot replay the same opponent for a better number. Practice is unlimited and never recorded.
How is the leaderboard ranked?
By score margin — your final score minus the AI opponent's — highest first. Ties are broken by elapsed time, and then by submission timestamp. Margin rather than raw score is what makes results comparable. See how scoring works for the details.
Why does each difficulty have a separate board?
Because the AI architectures are fundamentally different. A margin against Extreme (MCTS) and a margin against Easy measure different things, and mixing them into one table would misrepresent the achievement. The six opponents explains what each one does.
Can I play offline?
Yes. Practice runs entirely in your browser — the AI engine included — so once the page has loaded it keeps working with no network. QUADRO is installable as a PWA app on mobile and desktop. The Daily needs a network connection to fetch the seed and record scores.
Is this the board game Azul?
No. QUADRO is an original browser-based strategic duel inspired by classic drafting mechanics and reimagined through the narrative of AI consciousness and memory. Read more in Games like Azul.
Does the AI cheat?
No. It sees exactly what you see. QUADRO is a game of complete information — no hidden hands, no hidden bag order — so there is nothing for either side to hide. The AI's strength comes purely from algorithmic search depth and tree simulations.
How do I delete my scores?
Signing in gives you an account control option that removes every score you have posted. Separately, all leaderboard rows are automatically purged after 90 days.
What should I play if I am completely new?
Start with The Story to understand the consciousness duel, then jump into Learn to play — a two-minute interactive round on the neural board covering attention, buffer, context lines, hallucinations, and memory scoring.
